Title page artwork for Outpost Defence game on the iPad and iPhone.
As far as I'm aware it's still available for a free download. It's a grim n gritty side on shoot 'em up by Dynamo Games from Dundee.

With a machine gun in hand, holy man Morris delivers the word of God to the master race in the forthcoming comic book. Repent or be damned!

Berzerker

If you had the chance to see the Outpost prequel comic packaged with the iPhone game, you might have noticed a sneak peak at the new villains of the third movie in the editorial feature.
The Berzerkers are Nazi zombies bred for war. No shambling corpses, these guys are undead velociraptors in uniform.
This is my pre production painting of the Berzerker from last year. In the new movie out in 2013, the Berzerker will be played by mixed martial artist, James (The Colossus) Thomson.

Merry Christmas

This is probably my last post of the year so to round it off I'm putting up one of the most recent images for Vampire Vixens of the Wehrmacht.
Our heroes are on-route to Germany in an RAF Lancaster and Libyenah's attempts to break the ice only aggravate her pompous companion even more. The coquettish vamp can't help but press Morris' temper button and the team-up seems doomed before the mission has even begun.

Best wishes to all the visitors to my blog from all corners of the world. Merry Christmas and a happy new year.

Pete Wells (KTT) of the terrific 2000ad covers uncovered blog runs an advent calendar event on the forums every year. A lot of the fans post up a Dredd/2000 ad related art piece every day in the run up to Christmas. This was my last minute submission (reworked here to be less christmassy.) I'd been reading the latest run of the Dino time travelling western and was up for doing something Flesh themed.

Looking ahead into 2013, Vampire Vixens will be finished in the next few months and I'm planning on doing a limited print then hitting a few of the convention events to get it out there. A digital comic version will be developed by Tiger Games for release on a range of devices.

On top of that I'm thinking of approaching Black Camel pictures to see if there there is a chance of doing a limited print run of the Outpost comic which has been released with the Ipad game but could certainly benefit from a print run and also be promoted on the convention circuit shoulder to shoulder with Vixens.

First job of the new year is a concept piece for new film, Dark Hollow.

It's being directed by Paul Campion, former Weta VFX artist on titles including Lord of the Rings, Sin City and Constantine.
His debut film, The Devil's Rock has been wowing the international film circuit over the last year.

The latest sneak peek from Vampire Vixens of the Wehrmacht.

Chaplain Morris has turned his back for only a few seconds but already his bloodthirsty ward has reverted to her true nature. Can she ever be rehabilitated or is our holy man pissing in the wind?
Only time will tell.

Outpost Convention Special

I'll be launching a convention only edition of  Outpost at the Dundee Comic Expo in March. After which I'll be doing the rounds of some of the UK comic cons for the rest of the year, both with Outpost and Vampire Vixens.

This comic is a prequel to the first two Outpost movies and chronicles the Nazi's attempts to harness the power of the undead in the latter stages of WW2

Vixens will be launched at the Glasgow Comic Con on July 13th 2013. Mail order and digital releases of the comic will be available shortly after. I'll also be taking the comic around a few of the UK comic cons between then and the end of the year, Thought Bubble in Leeds is definitely on the schedule.
If (fingers crossed) the title proves popular, I'll continue the series, possibly releasing the comic a page at a time online and collecting it in a print release for conventions later on.

Some blast from the past artwork from 2000ad comic.
One of the very early pages from Missionary Man Goin' South circa 1998. Shown here in it's original BW, the strip was coloured by Dirty Frank maestro, D'Israeli. Too good an artist to be a colouring other people's work in my humble opinion.

Judge Minty was on last night in Glasgow's CCA as part of the film festival. The movie is partly inspired by a short Dredd strip from the late 70's or early 80 but the film expands on the story, taking you beyond the final comic panel.
I'd heard a lot about it and was keen to see how the fan film stacked up to the recent big budget feature. Considering that Minty stays relatively true to the comic book look and feel, the uniform, the bikes etc, It all looks great, had an amazing earthy washed out appearance.
The VFX of the city are the closest 'real world' Mega City One you could hope for.
The lead actor played by Edmund Dehn (a professional actor recently starring alongside Rutger Hauer) delivered a solid performance as disillusioned street Judge Minty. The supporting cast were more action than words but were well kitted out with suitably threadbare Cursed Earth attire. The main villain himself had echoes of Humangus, the mask wearing gang leader from Mad Max 2 but with more mind power than muscle.

If you are a fan of the comics or the recent Dredd 3D movie, check this out if you can. It's currently touring many of the country's film festivals and comics cons. Fingers crossed it makes an appearance at the Glasgow Comic Con in July

Apart from being a great 2000ad review and news site, Everything Comes back to 2000ad run regular podcasts.
The recent interview with Pat Mills, creator of 2000ad, Action, Marshal Law and many other great titles is one of the best insights to the Industry and history of UK comics.

If you are at all interested in comic art/writing or comics in general, you'll find it essential listening.
It's in two parts, (it's an in depth interview) and if you scroll down you'll find more from Pat Mills from last year. Great stuff.

Just listening to the guy makes me want to make comics.

I've not been posting too much lately, very much heads down on the final art pages of Vampire Vixens but also the editorial layouts , (which take longer to do than you'd imagine)

I'm booked for the Glasgow Comic Convention in July, hopefully MCM expo in the SECC when the tables go on sale and Thought Bubble in Leeds this November.

Looking forward to puting the book out now that the end is near. Fingers crossed people like it.

The Book of the Dead

After an initial digital release, I finally have hard copies of Outpost-Black Sun.
This is a comic adaption of what was originally going to be the pre-title sequence to the second Outpost film. The sequence was never filmed for budgetary reasons but I've painted it as a 22 page sepia flashback staying as true  as possible to the gritty feel of the films. It gives a small insight to the Nazis desperate attempt to turn the tide of the war in it's final days.
If you are familiar with the movies you'll know of these spectral undead foot soldiers who caused so much havoc for Ray Stevenson and his platoon of mercenaries in present day Bosnia.

This comic gives a glimpse into how evil genius Doctor Klasener created a meld of science and the occult.

I'll be launching the book at The Dundee Comic Expo next Saturday 30th March.
If you're local, get along for a copy.

Can a blood sucking demoness from Hell be one of the good guys?
Put her alongside her self righteous preacher sidekick and you decide who's more crazy.

Two panels and two flashback pages to go and Vixens will be complete. Nearly there.

Finished the last art panel of Vixens last night. Just an overall polish then it's off to the letterer.
In the meantime here's a pic of the back cover image.
